ABC Market and Food Center

Visit to this food center has been a good experience. So far, the food in this place exceeded our expectation, having read about many good food found in this newly renovated food center. I would think that if you happen to see a queue at the store, the food would have to be quite good.

First up was the hokkien mee. Despite being 4th in queue, the wait for the noodles took between 15 minutes as the uncle fried up a wok full of noodles. Ingredients are fresh and there is no pork in it. There were many pieces of sotong given and what makes it different is the chilli. This dish's chilli is some what different from many other stall, making it unique. The queue was really long upon collection of food. With a starting price of $3.50, the amount was not a lot. Would suggest ordering $4 if you would like just one dish to keep you full.

After a long wait for the hokkien mee, the satay bee hoon queue was nothing comparable. The quantity given was huge and plenty of gravy filled up this dish. It is spicy and has a strong peanut taste and a non nut eater would find that this dish is good!

Lastly, we ordered a bowl of mixed balls, with the stall being famou for their fishballs. For $4, you can have a mixture of fish balls and meat balls. The meat balls are unusual, not the typical one where the entire ball is filled with so called meat. It is filled with half fish, half meat kind of balls, making it light and springy. It was a good light dish to end the meal.

We would definitely head back to this food center again to try the other dishes that had really long queues. For now, I would say this has been a fulfilling trip down!

Resort World Sentosa - Malaysian Food Corner

This time round we head to Resort World area in Sentosa where hawker food exist..to be more specific, Malaysian hawker food. In an area built for different hawker food, the selection is just nice, not too many though price is another thing.

The longest queue in the whole 'food court' was the hokkien mee, a different version from the more common one Singaporeans eat. It is the dark sauce kind where can be found at some tze char stalls. Taste wise wasn't too bad though I think there would be nicer ones elsewhere. There were not much ingredients also and at a cost of $6!

If you like the fatty kind of char siew in your wanton mee, this is the right place to come! For a price of $4, you get quite a bit of char siew and the noodles is not too bad, though again nothing fantastic. However, the serving portion is quite generous for the noodles, char siew and won ton.

To end it off, dessert!! The dessert store sold only a few kinds of desserts, ice kachang being one of them. The ingredients in the dessert were plenty though the atapchi was slightly hard.

On the hold, price wise, you might think you are paying loads for such simple food. However, the ambience is different, area is different and you may realised that the crowd is also slightly different with more tourists and visitors to Sentosa. For cheaper alternative, this place might be worth a try, but don't expect the food to be the most delicious one you ever had!

Seah Imm Food Center - Battle of the Meeeee

Our next destination was to Seah Imm Food Center, which is opposite Vivocity and just above Harbourfront MRT station. Our journey continues from the disappointment of not not knowing what has happened to Zion Riverside Food Center..also, today we had our guest SJ with us! There was some excitement going to this food center as we heard some good reviews about the food.

Upon reaching, many stores were closed. However, there were about 3 to 4 hokkien mee stores that were available and you could say that we were spoilt for choice! We decided to order from 2 different stores to compare, with the addition of rojak and oyster omelette..results??

The both plates of hokkiem mee were truly not up to standard of any hokkien mee that we have tried..one tasted so much of chicken stock, it's as if the auntie frying it wanted to close shop early and poured all the remaining stock into the noodles, resulting in us eating chicken stock mee..can't complain much with it being only $2..the other plate was slightly better, though the noodles was slightly hard, suggesting the uncle did not cook long enough..prawns given were not fresh also..i guess it's a never going back to this place to eat hokkien mee ever again..

The rojak was another one that was badly done..fruits were taken out from the fridge and the you tiao was taken from somewhere? after mixing all the ingredients, the uncle took out 3 miserable toothpick and gave the plate to us..i think the ideal food for the day was the oyster omelette with sufficient egg to go around though the chili looks really bloody don't you think?
